Brief
This video constitutes one of six segments within the I AM GENERATION MOX series, showcasing notable personalities from Hong Kong. As part of the “I AM GENERATION MOX” series, produce a concise branded video that introduces the daily routine of Award-Winning Film Director, Producer & Scriptwriter, Heiward Mak. This video should seamlessly complement her upcoming interview article and the imminent masterclass she'll be conducting.
Creative Direction
Our primary aim is to present Heiward Mak as the embodiment of the "storyteller". This connection will be seamlessly integrated into her daily routine. Each Gen Mox feature involves personal interviews with notable individuals to capture their essence, shaping their videos accordingly.
In our conversation with Heiward, she described creativity as a process of self-discovery and self-recovery — a way to connect with people and communicate with the world. The “self” here doesn’t just refer to the creator, but to the shared space between filmmaker and audience. We captured her in her creative zone: storyboarding, searching for inspiration, and fully in her element — directing.
In summary, our goal is to intertwine the "storyteller" theme with Heiward's story, highlighting her creativity and imagination.
Challenges
We had an average lead time of approximately 2 weeks for each video, from initiation to release. This was crucial to align with Mox Bank's monthly release schedule for promoting the masterclasses. Despite this tight timeframe being a challenge, our collaborative efforts triumphed over it.

Because film sets are often restricted, we weren’t able to access Heiward Mak’s actual shoot to capture footage of her directing on set. To work around this, we filmed her Mox video at The Hive, which offered both a studio space and multiple work areas we could use in a single day. In the studio, we created a staged set environment to simulate Heiward in action as a director. This gave us greater control over the setting and allowed us to tailor the shots to best highlight her process and presence on set.
